The Cologne high tide in 2018 refers to a significant flooding event that affected the city of Cologne, Germany, in January of that year. Due to prolonged heavy rainfall and melting snow, the water levels of the Rhine River rose dramatically, peaking at around 8.78 meters (28.8 feet). This caused widespread flooding in low-lying areas and disrupted daily life. The high water levels led to the closure of riverside promenades, the suspension of shipping traffic on the Rhine, and the implementation of various protective measures by the city’s authorities. Despite the challenges, the effective response helped to mitigate the impact of the flooding on residents and infrastructure.
